Notes
  • Christiane Paul uses her book to explain how a computer can be used to create digital art.
  • Mediums are explained.
  • Using a computer will make it easier to combine the mediums.
  • The key components in a digital medium are interactivity and customizability
  • Digital art can express itself in many ways = Mediums.
  • Mediums covered in chapter two: Installations (with or without network component, software (written by an artist; artistic code), and internet-based art.
  • Interactivity (for digital art) - is defined in terms that are specific to the subject.
  • Participatory - meaning that art is created by user input and commands.
  • Digital art changes with data/ input flow.
  • Digital art is composed of two types of components = 1. Back end code. 2. Visual user interface.
  • Digital Interface - anything from the buttons helping you navigate the internet, or the dials on the television set.
  • Chapter two is all about realizing a virtual reality.
  • Softwares used = Flash, and Director. (Used for making videos).
  • HTML is the format used for making digital art pieces.
